How to: Search for a file by name.
Solution:
In the 'Find: All Files' dialog box, select a drive or folder, and click the 'Name & Location' tab. Type the part of the filename you know in the 'Named' box, using wildcards when necessary. Click 'Find Now'.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select the 'Find' menu and select 'Files or Folders...'. (The 'Find: All Files' dialog box appears.)
3) To search a drive or folder other than the current root drive, select a drive from the 'Look in' drop-down list box, or click 'Browse...'.
4) Select the 'Include subfolders' check box.
5) Click the 'Name & Location' tab.
6) Type the letters of the filename that you know in the 'Named' box.
EXAMPLE 1: To search for all files beginning with the letter 'O', type O*.*
EXAMPLE 2: To search for a file title with 'O' somewhere in the middle, type *O*.*

EXAMPLE 3: To find all files that end in the letter 'O', type: *O
EXAMPLE 4: If any portion of the filename is known, type that portion. For example, typing ORE returns the results of both OREGON and FOREMAN
7) Click 'Find Now'.
NOTE: Use Quick View to view a file's contents without opening the file.
